FLORENCE, OREGON
Where the beautiful Siuslaw River crosses the great sand dunes and meets the blue Pacific, the last frontier.

RECREATION
Seventeen pristine fresh water lakes, miles of magnificent ocean beaches, spectacular sand dunes, forrested mountains and the Siuslaw River Estuary surround Florence.
Popular pursuits include river, lake and ocean fishing, crabbing and clamming. Florence also enjoys two challenging 18 - hole golf courses, Ocean Dunes Golf Links and Sandpines Golf Resort.
Other choices include eleven city parks, several state parks, tennis courts, bowling, Rod & Gun Club, Siuslaw Pioneer Museum, several art galleries, theatre and stage; and antique stores. A variety of places offer camping, beachcombing and hiking amid the wonders of 40 miles of National Dunes Recreation area. Off-road vehicles are popular, and many thousand acres are open for adventure and enjoyment on the dunes. There are several hundred RV spaces with full hook-ups, both private and publicly owned. |
FLORENCE EVENTS CENTER, CONVENTION AND PERFORMING ARTS
The Florence Events Center was built in 1996 to provide multicultural enrichment to the community; to provide a welcoming and accessible facility for residents and visitors; and to promote events and conventions for the benefit of the Florence area community.
It is a 457 seat theatre and an 8,000 sq.ft. conference center and art gallery.
The Florence Events Center is home to an impresive variety of performing and visual arts, conferences, conventions and a broad spectrum of special events such as: Chowder, Blues and Brews, The Home and Garden Show, Oregon Coast Chamber Orchestra, Rhododendron Festival Pageant and many more. |
MEDICAL FACILITIES
In 1989, Florence completed a 5.2 million dollar state-of-the-art full service hospital offering both general and acute care. There are several resident physicians who offer a broad range of specialties, as well as out-of-the-area consultant physicians on the hospital staff. The Florence hospital is operated by the Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene, which is a highly regarded health care organization. In recent years, additional buildings have been added to enhance local medical care. In 2000, a new wing housing nuclear medicine, MRI and cardiac rehabilitation facilities was completed. |
SIUSLAW PUBLIC LIBRARY
Centrally located on a prominent downtown site, this striking 14,800 sq.ft. facility opened in December, 1990, providing the community with a wide range of books, periodicals, internet research, videos, cassettes, and two public meeting rooms. |
BAYFRONT/OLD TOWN

HIGHWAY 101
A six-million dollar major North - South coastal highway widening project was completed in 1988. When Florence's Fred Meyer store was completed in the year 2000, Highway 101 on the North end of town was expanded to four lanes to the city limits. |
